I know you are all familiar with Modern Bird Studios, right? (If you said no, better click that link after reading the rest of this Sweet Shop post-LIKE MUST!)
Where was I??? Oh yeah, Gregg Deal, the artist behind Modern Bird, has a new Etsy shop that is full of his personal artwork. Here is what you will find at The Art of Gregg Deal that you won't find at Modern Bird...
My husband's favorite is the Robot, but I am partial to the orange diner. Gregg definitely has an eye for capturing emotion and feeling in objects that may seem like "everyday ordinary". You can see more on the process that goes into each piece here. I was in awe as I read that article at all the steps that go into each work of art, plus you get to see some pics of the studio-cool! The process of layering the colors to produce the intricate images is a technique that is totally unique to Gregg. Although he was schooled in "classical oil painting", he also dabbled in graffiti, and has a love for graphic design. "It's a culmination of all of my artistic experiences into one," said Gregg of his creative process.
In contrast, here are a couple of Modern Bird Studios pieces...
Modern Bird takes your photos and makes them into art. Not just any art, an heirloom that will be in your family for generations to come-yep, it's that SWEET! They haven't announced the cut off date for holiday orders, but if you're thinking of getting a Modern Bird piece for the holidays, I would order soon! Just a thought...it's a great gift for your spouse, grandma/grandpa, or even your college age son or daughter.
Want to see the very latest (Gregg was finishing it up just last night)??? This one was commissioned, so you won't find it in his shop, but it's awesome!
Want to hang with the cool kids?
Go ahead and go follow them (Gregg and his wife Megan) now...you can usually find them loitering on twitter, don't be shy...chat them up!
The Art of Gregg Deal has generously offered a $50 shop credit to a Sweet Harper reader! I would suggest using it to buy some artwork to give as a gift for the holidays.
